In this two-day master class that will be held on Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19, 2025, you will be taken on a unique “lavender journey.” In a beautiful nature reserve in the north of the Netherlands we will harvest lavender together and distill it into essential oil and hydrolate in a traditional copper alambic.

A sensory experience full of inspiration
Experience, information and inspiration alternate. All your senses are stimulated. You will discover the versatility of lavender and the fragrant products that can enrich body, mind and soul. From harvesting to making essential oil, from first aid to meditation and from culinary applications to homemade care products - everything is covered.
After these two days, you will have extensive knowledge of lavender, have experienced its unique power and know how to use its valuable properties, the essential oil and lavender hydrosol can integrate into your own life or professional practice.
What to expect?
On the first day, we get to work in the organic lavender garden of Will Buitenkamp of De Dragende Natuur. She enthusiastically shares with us her passion for growing and caring for various lavender varieties with their divine fragrance.
The lavender garden is located around her home a nice place to unwind and connect with nature. As a beekeeper, she has now also added her own hive to her fragrant garden.
As an aromatherapist, she knows all there is to know about each lavender variety and the use of essential oils, whether therapeutic, culinary or creative. In a practical way, she lets the soul of the plant deeply enter you.
After harvest, Joanne Klein Wolterink of AromaWise us in the distillation process. At a beautiful nature spot in the Heemtuin in Muntendam we “capture” the scent of lavender together in Joanne's copper cauldron. The Heemtuin adjacent to a nature reserve hereby gives us an oasis of tranquility and a beautiful background for this ritual. The first drop, which appears from the cauldron through all kinds of natural processes, is an experience never to be forgotten. The alchemist in you is touched. Joanne as an aromatherapist and scent developer, takes you on a journey into the story of each plant and scent. Thus, experiencing the essential oil and hydrolate becomes a connection from soul to soul.
The second day: a complete sensory experience
The second day will be a day where all your senses will be engaged. We will distribute and experience the products created in the distillation process. You will learn all the ins and outs about essential oil and hydrosol. Lavender will be enjoyed in teas and snacks. And you will make care products for a lavender treatment.
A day full of creativity, fragrance experience and fragrance meditation to fulfill your whole being. At the end of the day, you will know All about lavender and how to apply this knowledge in your daily life or in your therapeutic practice.
Essential oil and lavendel hydrosol the homemade creations and, of course, an experience to remember, go home with you.
Meet the experts: Will Buitenkamp en Joanne Klein Wolterink
Will Buitenkamp from De Dragende Natuur
From an early age, Will was fascinated by nature and its healing properties. After studies in reflexology and herbal medicine, she discovered the healing power of natural scents and chose to study clinical aromatherapy. Since 2004 she has been internationally recognized as an aromatherapist and teacher by the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA) in London and in the Netherlands by the Dutch Association of Soma Therapists (NVST). She enjoys sharing her knowledge through courses and workshops to help others take charge of their health. This master class All About Lavender she is giving together with Joanne offers the chance to discover, experience and learn to use lavender to support and strengthen your own health, physically and mentally.
Joanne Klein Wolterink from AromaWise
For fifteen years Joanne has had a certified naturopathic massage and movement practice. Living from your heart, being allowed to be who you are is her life motto. Essential oils are valuable sources of inspiration for this. For the past fifteen years she has continued to study essential oils, from production and quality to scent psychology and creating aroma blends. Joanne acts as a fragrance expert, gives presentations and offers continuing education, master classes and study tours. With her passion for lavender enhanced by her lavender tours in Turkey and Provence, she and Will teach the master class “All About Lavender,” in which participants learn how lavender can support their well-being.
